Definition of Foreign and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Students

International/Foreign Students

International/Foreign students are the students holding passport issued by foreign country including people of Indian origin who have acquired the nationality/citizenship of foreign countries.

Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Students (w.e.f 2012-2013)

  1. Non-Resident Indian students are the Indian Nationals studying abroad.
  2. They must have had at least 3 (three) years of education in any Foreign country during the last 6 (six) years and must pass the qualifying examination (inclusive of 11th and 12th standard or equivalent) from abroad only.
  3. [Adopted as per D.A.S.A Scheme (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) 2011-12, for admission into NITs (National Institutes of Technology)]

NRI Students are eligible only for admission into B.E./B.Tech. courses only.

Only those NRI students who fulfill the above criteria are allowed to apply for admission into B.E./B.Tech. courses from the academic year 2012-13.

Note: All the documents to be submitted for admission must be attested either by the Ministry of Higher Education or the Embassy concerned.
